I dare you to scroll through the images of Shellie and Bobby’s wedding without gawking over her dress. It’s seriously impossible! The off-the-shoulder, lace Martina Liana mermaid gown (available in Charleston through Gown Boutique of Charleston) is a no-holds-barred stunner with a detachable three-quarter-length sleeve overlay. And the groom? He was dapper in his own right in a navy tux and bowtie. But the pair, who wed in the oak allee behind the Legare Waring House in West Ashley, were so much more than just a fashion statement. They are a little bit of fate personified. Consider how the two met: Bobby, then a Massachusetts resident, had missed his flight out of Texas and during the inadvertent layover scored a pal’s ticket to a Houston Rockets game. Ashley, who was visiting town on spring break, also got a friend’s ticket to the game, and, via a mutual acquaintance, ended up sitting next to guess who? She and Bobby more than hit it off, and after dating from afar, the two found themselves trading vows down South. As for the celebration, Hamby Catering & Events pulled out all the stops in their signature elegantly comfortable way, complete with a Southern accented menu, café lights that reflected manifold in the backyard fountain, and bare farm tables dressed in white blooms. By the time the couple was ready to slip away in a vintage white ride from Lowcountry Valet & Shuttle, they had dined, danced, and been feted just as fate had prescribed.
