27 Aug Sally & Josh | Magnolia Plantation & Gardens
Sally and Josh first locked eyes at a friend’s engagement party. A couple of years later, Josh proposed to Sally in the shadow of the U-Haul parked into the driveway of a house she’d just bought here in Charleston. After disbelief turned to shock, Sally confesses she launched into an ugly cry, couldn’t breathe (or talk), and was choked up just long enough to make Josh nervous about her answer. After she mustered a “Yes,” family and friends joined them at the new casa to celebrate amid moving boxes, packing peanuts, crumpled newspapers, and all. Since the couple loves the Holy City pretty hard (Sally went to college here and Josh is from here), they chose Magnolia Plantation & Gardens for their “I do’s”. With Sally being an artist (find her cheerful work here–we are particular fans of her abstracts) and Josh is an avid outdoorsman, they wanted to showcase bright-colored florals and natural greenery on the site’s massive piazza (The Veranda) for their Big Day. As for their reception? Salthouse Catering cooked up a mac-and-cheese bar, barbecue, coleslaw, shrimp and grits–in other words, a proper Southern feast. As a thank-you, Sally and Josh gifted their guests Salthouse’s award-winning chicken sandwiches to-go at the end of the night. Now, that sounds like a wedding I want to go to! Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. (See their wedding video from Hampton Road Studios here. And to see how the bride captured her bouquet in stunning embroidery, visit her Insta feed.)
