17 Apr Rachael & Matt | Old Wide Awake Plantation
C’mon ladies, it’s time to put on those cowgirl boots! Rachael and Matt’s Southern wedding at Old Wide Awake Plantation is a lesson in the perfect balance of timeless elegance and a lil’ Southern fun. On a beautiful day last June, Rachael and Matt said “I do” on the moss-covered steps of the tin-roofed plantation home surrounded by boot-wearing bridesmaids, lush florals, and all of their nearest and dearest. Once the two had been named husband and wife, guests were treated to cocktails and small plates of chicken and waffles, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp and grits, all from The Pampered Palate. Yum! The reception tent, which was nestled between the pond and the historic home boasted gold chiavari chairs, white farm tables draped in blooming garlands, and a beautiful lounge atop a seagrass rug, which added a chic touch to the coziness. But our favorite detail had to have been the beautiful bloom-covered cake by Cakes by Kasarda that was flanked by the front doors—and those wreaths!—at the top of the porch stairs. What a perfect spot to cut the cake and make a toast. Cheers, Rachael and Matt.
