11 Apr Nicole & Johannes {Goat Island Gatherings}
It’s been chilly so far this month, but Nicole and Johannes laid-back Lowcountry celebration at Goat Island Gatherings is sure to warm up your Monday morning, island-style. Nicole, CEO and founder of a micro-finance lending firm for developing nations, married her Dutch beau in a simple ceremony at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church downtown before joining their guests on a ferry boat to venture to a Swiss Family Robinson-esque reception on Goat Island. (The island, accessed from the Isle of Palms marina, is an unpaved, barely developed paradise littered with a handful of beach shacks and hideaways and wonderfully wild water views.) As the couple walked up the dock to their reception, Nicole’s “something blue,” a Japanese-inspired Obi sash, fluttered beautifully behind her. Palm fronds, sweetgrass, and sailboats made up the décor while colorful hammocks hung from palmetto trees. Guests lounged about with their cocktails for the perfect intro to Lowcountry life for many guests who had traveled from far corners of the world to celebrate. We know you’ll enjoy every lovely shot of this castaway affair by Anne Rhett Photography as much as we did. Cheers to Nicole and Johannes!
