12 Apr New York Bridal Market {Trend Alert | The Fancy Collection}
The 2011 New York Bridal Market is a feast of beautiful. Everywhere you look you are surrounded by couture gowns, amazing accessories and phenomenal designers. The pulse of the city is palpable and in any given direction you become immersed in the world’s best gown boutiques and their buyers as well as editors from the most prestigious magazines and wedding blogs around the globe. Needless to say, I was like a kid in a very big, super posh couture candy store. This was my first trip to market and I am ADDICTED and already planning my trip back to the October market….so get ready NYC! TWR had the pleasure of seeing some exclusive runway shows and chatting with the designers. So with no further adieu, we are starting a series of posts to bringing New York to you.
We are starting off with designers Gregory & Stephen Nato of the Fancy Collection whose mantra is ‘Inspired by the tradition of Sunday best on your wedding day. The fabulous design duo is marching on the front line of one of the hot new trends coming to bridal this year…separates. That is right, separates are coming and they are gorgeous. We had a chance to chat with the designers and the inspiration behind their new collection. They gleaned their inspiration by connecting with today’s bride. Offering versatility by combining separates to create a look that is unique to each bride and allows the bride options in building her ensemble. They use fabrics that are soft and add texture. The collection offers fabric options and parings such as sequin, duchess satin, silk wool, and metallic brocade skirts, charmeuse blouses, cashmere sweaters, and silk taffeta riding jackets. Various shirt lengths are also part of the collection’s options that reflected a fabulous 1950’s vintage silhouette.
The Fancy Collection also offered a new twist for the modern and socially conscious bride. After the big day, a bride can send her frock back to Fancy to have it dyed for future wearability. So that lovely skirt can morph to suit a black tie affair and the perfect cashmere sweater can be worn again and again for anniversary celebrations to come. The Fancy Collection can be found exclusively in Charleston at Maddison Row.
