04 Aug Melissa & Tom | The River Course
We’ve all heard of the progressive dinner, but what about a progressive color story? Melissa and Tom’s chic Kiawah Island wedding, planned and designed by Events by Reagan, began with fresh white-on cream-invitations from Bliss & Bone beguiling guests from New York City to Chicago and beyond to the Lowcountry, where Melissa had long summered with her family. The ceremony came next with a white, ivory, and soft blush palette. Y’all know I’m nuts for flowers, and those arrangements that mark the beginning of the aisle and the rest that leading down to the breathtaking arch of white delphinium, roses, and snapdragon is just so very romantic. From there, guests headed to the back lawn of the River Course for a cocktail hour amid a colorful bar and lounge. (And yep, I’m obsessed with the floral monogram on the boxwood bar). Then it was time to turn the dial all the way up with a reception design so rich in jewel tones and drama that we can’t help but pin every image! Charleston Stems filled the ballroom with lush centerpieces of fuchsia peonies, Yves Piaget garden roses, lilac, and ranunculus, eclectic ceramic bowls of floating candles and blooms, and tall tree-like arrangements. The real piece de resistance, however, has to be the “mantel” covered in winding greenery, bright pink blooms, and climbing lavender clematis that framed the Jim Smeal wedding cake. Wow, wow, wow! A bright pink petal toss exit gave the exclamation point on this progressive color story. Cheers to Melissa and Tom and cheers to one-of-a-kind wedding designs like this!
