Maura and Rob may have met back in 2009 while attending the University of Georgia, but first became an item in 2014 when Rob relocated to Charleston for his job in the U.S. Air Force. (“We joke about how it took us five years to realize we were a good match!” laughs Maura today.) One morning three years later, on a trip to Asheville, North Carolina, for Maura’s 29th birthday, the two hiked along the Blue Ridge Mountains. When they reached the summit of their trail, Rob dropped to one knee and gave Maura her best (and most sparkly) bday present to date. For the Big Day, they chose John’s Island’s Wingate Plantation–the first and only venue Maura visited because it was exactly what she had imagined for their vows. From there, friends and family pitched in to bake desserts, arrange the florals from Charleston Flower Market, do Maura’s hair and makeup, tackle DJ duties, and much more. Cheers to the happy couple!
