09 Dec Martha & Charley {Cannon Green}
Do you hear the drumroll? It should be pretty loud because we’ve been darn excited to debut the first wedding event at Charleston’s newest downtown venue: Cannon Green. A collaboration of the couples behind Charleston Stems and Zero George and Easton Events, the space promised to be something stellar, and boy, is it ever. Set on Spring Street, Cannon Green gives chic, sleek new life to the one-time avant-garde gallery and long-ago trolley barn. With its café, hidden-from-the-street courtyard, and banquet hall, Martha and Charley say it made the perfect spot for their rehearsal dinner this October. “We loved the idea of having our rehearsal dinner someplace new and different,” says Martha, a local attorney. “And while Cannon Green does have an urban feel, it retains Charleston charm in its architecture and interiors.” After a trial-run ceremony at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, the two joined family, wedding party members, and out-of-town guests for a cocktail party, sit-down dinner (one rife with speeches that had the whole crowd in stitches), and an epic dance party. “We were lucky/brave enough to have the first event there,” laughs Martha, “and the service, food, and décor were all stunning.” The next day, she and Charley exchanged vows then continued the celebration at Yeoman’s Hall. Congrats to them, to the Cannon Green team, and to Leigh Webber for sharing these great shots with all of us!
