16 Jan Marissa & Kyle {Middleton Place}
While Marissa first laid eyes on fellow Pennsylvanian Kyle in their pharmacy school biology lab, that meeting was all about chemistry. Over their eight-year courtship, the two moved to Charleston and welcomed pup Sadie into their life. Their four-legged “baby” played a major role in Kyle’s proposal on Isle of Palms—just taking her for a walk? Puh-lease! With a concealed photographer capturing the special moment nearby, Kyle interrupted the pup’s stroll to pop the question. When the Big Day arrived, the duo was fully prepared for their outdoor June wedding (and Southern temps), and offered guests refreshing cucumber water and ice pops prior to the ceremony at Middleton Place. With the day’s festivities spread over the plantation’s grounds, family and friends promenaded through the flourishing gardens and rode horse-drawn wagons. The evening ended at the Pavilion there, where Southern Protocol’s Sara Hosch had set up a dining hall filled with golden candelabras and glamorous chandeliers. While Riverland Studios’ snaps of mini praline cheesecakes first drew us to the candy bar, we melted at the beakers-turned-candy containers—get it, beakers for the lab grads? Charming all the way around!
