01 Mar Lauren & Sam | Gibbes Museum of Art
There’s no denying that Lauren and Sam deserve the “couple of the year” award. Why, you ask? Hurricane Matthew took its toll on all of us but none so much as this pair, who had to postpone their Charleston nuptials after city-wide evacuations left our precious city deserted. But alas, the twosome turned this lemon of a situation into lemonade and along with their families, jetted off to Vegas to exchange vows in a tiny chapel with the promise to each other (and to their guests, of course!) that they’d celebrate Holy City style at a later date. And that they did. Lauren and Sam sealed the deal for a second time just a few months later at none other than the historic Gibbes Museum of Art. Once the “I do’s” and “I do too’s” were exchanged, wedding-goers sauntered outside to be greeted by one gorgeously lit tent from Sperry Tents decked out with dreamy gold chairs and a spacious dance floor. And get this . . . as a not-so-subtle nod to Mother Nature’s inopportune appearance just a few months previous, the couple wet guests’ whistles with a signature drink by Squeeze aptly named the “hurricane cocktail.” And my, oh, my do they look darn tasty. Let’s hear it for this couple, whose bright attitudes and resilient spirits remind us that love, above all else, reigns supreme.
