One of the key elements to make Laura and Bucky’s wedding a success? Including their two golden retrievers, Boone and Charlie, into the couple’s Big Day. The two met while Laura was serving at Bucky’s restaurant, Boone (named after his pup), in downtown Charleston. They instantly hit it off and bonded over their dogs, love of outdoor activities, and each other’s infectious personalities. A few chapters later into their romance, Bucky and Laura were on Sullivan’s Island to meet pals when he suggested they go for a walk on the beach as they were early for dinner. While picking up shells (like they often do), she found a whole conch and turned it over to see “Will you marry me?” written on it and a ring tucked inside. (Bucky had a friend secretly sitting in a beach chair to guard the goods and capture shots of the big moment.) The subsequent dinner out found them celebrating with friends, and this year, they officially tied the knot at Middleton Place, pups included. As a footnote, the couple told us that mere hours after they returned from their honeymoon, sweet Boone passed away. They said that although they miss him every day, they are so happy he was able to be a part of their wedding. After all, it was his namesake that brought them together.
