14 Sep Kerri & Gregory | Private Residence
Charleston may have some of the top wedding venues in the country but getting to say “I do” at home here holds a special sentimentality. For Kerri and Gregory, their family property on John’s Island was the perfect spot to exchange vows and hosting their Big Day there meant they could incorporate an old-time tradition. According to Southern lore, if you bury a full bottle of whiskey upside down at the ceremony site—you’ll ward off rain on your wedding day. Once the ceremony is complete, you have to dig up the whiskey and share with your guests. The images of Kerri and Gregory practicing this ritual (with sunshine all around them, we might add) are hilarious—nice shots, Riverland Studios! Superstitions aside, the alfresco evening, planned and designed by MI Events and lively thanks to the Hot Sauce band, was a wedding worth remembering.
