30 Jan Janet & Josh {Governor Thomas Bennet House}
When Josh noticed Janet’s online profile stating she was involved in a Footlight Players show, the Colorado resident seized the opportunity to send a “Hello” as he, too, had just wrapped up a show there while stationed in Charleston with the United States Air Force. Come to find out, the pair had been cast in an earlier show together, but Janet dropped out due to a busy schedule and long commute (she lived in Orangeburg, South Carolina). “We were supposed to meet months before we did!” laughs Janet. After the two did get in touch, they started dating and 10 months later Josh proposed in a parking lot. (They were on the journey home from visiting Janet’s parents, but he was too excited to wait any longer once he had gotten her father’s permission.) For their Big Day in June, the duo turned to Charleston and local planner Kristin Newman Designs to pull together the most romantic meets whimsical secret garden celebration at the Governor Thomas Bennett House downtown. Just wait ’til you see the floral crowned, freckled flower girl—you’ll be gushing over her just as much as over the lavender hued and ivory bouquets by Gathering Events. During the ceremony, Janet and Josh swapped personal vows incorporating movie quotes that had guests roaring with laughter. “They professed their love in a way that made you walk away and say those two are meant to be,” says Leigh Webber, whose images captured just that to a T.
