03 Sep Elisabeth-Rose & Michael By Richard Israel
Ahem, there are days that need drum rolls and today is one of those days. I freely admit that I have had my fingers crossed to feature the profoundly gifted photographer, Richard Israel. He is, simply put…a genius behind the lens. His work is inspired and can be found throughout wedding blogs as well as gracing the pages of the top publications in the world. Yes, we have a huge Wedding Row crush on this fellow. I had the pleasure of chatting with him the other day and his passion for life, photography and the use of film pervaded the conversation. I was intrigued about his choice to photograph with film and he graciously shared his thoughts.
{Why I love and choose to work with film? It has a unique look which I describe as organic, real and honest with a nostalgic twist. It faithfully captures colors and has depth and texture. Film photography renders skin tones deliciously smooth and creamy. Using film makes me slow down and think, it forces me to be a more thoughtful photographer. With film, I no longer spend my entire existence in front of a computer screen as there is no need of post processing, it looks perfect straight out of the camera, providing you know what your doing of course. I have a hybrid workflow which means I send the film off to my lab, they process and and make super hi-res scans enabling me to have a digital workflow complete with online galleries, album design etc.}
Now, for the gorgeous Elisabeth-Rose and Michael. These brilliant photographs by Richard Israel are a collection from his long time friend and assistant, Elisabeth-Rose’ wedding. There are photographs from her engagement session, bridal portrait, wedding and a super 8 film. You are going to need to sit down, clear your desk and stay for awhile to enjoy this film and the images.
