Donna and Rob met at work in New York City. (When she discovered his love for Thanksgiving sandwiches at their company’s potluck, Donna says she knew she was head over heels for him.) Five years later, Rob asked Donna to take a walk through Gantry Park in Long Island City, Queens, where they live. There, overlooking the East River with the Empire State Building in the distance, he popped the question. “We chose Charleston as our wedding location,” says Donna, “as it has a mix of Southern charm (my roots) with a cool Eastern Coast vibe (Rob’s roots).” The couple invited friends and family to their ceremony at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on St. Phillip Street (aside: Bill Murray has been known to attend Sunday services there), then, with the planning and décor help of Ooh! How cool is it that a New York bride wore a Carol Hannah gown to her Charleston wedding?
