28 Mar Candace & Jay | Hibernian Hall
Candace and Jay’s story began 10 years ago on move-in day at University of South Carolina Upstate, when he offered to take Candace and her friends to a welcome party in his Mercury Mountaineer. A year later, they both transferred (Candace to USC in Columbia and Jay to Gamecock nemesis Clemson), but they remained friends through graduation and more moves away from one another. Then one night in Charleston at a friend’s house, they randomly ran into one another and that was that—they were a couple. A few years afterward, the two traveled to the Queen City for the annual Charlotte Christmas Village festival; on their way to dinner Jay paused in the middle of Romare Bearden Park, got down on one knee, and asked Candace to marry him. For their wedding, they wanted an elegant Southern affair, so they recruited Ashley Burke-King of Cobblestone Convivial to create a reception space filled with golden hues, magnolia leaves, and ferns at Hibernian Hall. Take a look at the dreamy details from their Big Day (and their adorable pup, Waylon!) via these stunning shots from Alex Thornton.
