04 May Caity & Chris | Lowndes Grove Plantation
Though Boston residents Caity and Chris met through friends while heading from Martha’s Vineyard to Nantucket for the annual Figawi Adventure regatta, it was when they headed to a Red Sox game together a year later that set their romance in motion. “The seats were good, the beers were cold, and we’ve been inseparable ever since,” says Caity. Three years hence, Chris popped the question on a secluded beach in the Bahamas with a custom ring from Tiffany & Co. (uhm, how perfect?). Since these two love vibrant colors and tropical places (thus why they chose Charleston for their nuptials), they recruited Yoj Events to incorporate an island vibe into their Big Day at Lowndes Grove Plantation. The décor focused heavily palm fronds and pineapples. And why the latter, you ask? “Last year in our apartment in the chilly North End of Boston,” explains Caity, “the only plant we could keep alive was a pineapple plant, so the fruit became a personal symbol of resilience and sweetness for us.” Plus, she adds, it’s traditionally a Charleston symbol of hospitality. “But most important to Chris,” says Caity, “is the fact that rum and pineapple mix well, and can instantly transport the drinker to a Tiki mindset.” Join us in celebrating this entertaining duo’s “I do’s” as you scroll through the images from Anne Rhett.
