18 May Barbara & Nate {McCrady’s Restaurant}
Barbara and Nate may reside in Boston, but they happily headed south to Charleston for their wedding, and we just cannot blame them! They had been to Charleston, South Carolina, a few years prior and simply fell in love with the cobblestone sidewalks, gas lanterns, quaint alleys, and the hospitality of this charming city. The couple planned a small but swanky affair. The nuptials took place in the French Huguenot Church. Barbara wanted the wedding to emulate an intimate dinner party with their closest friends and family. She spent her time pulling together the small details she knew that their fifty-one guests would love and appreciate. Barbara sent us a lovely note to share the inspirations and details for the wedding…
{The men wore suits with fun gray and yellow argyle socks. The Groom wore John Fluevog gray dress boots for the ceremony and proudly changed into yellow (as Marni called them “nuclear”) Florshiem by Duckie Brown shoes for the reception. (Marni Rothschild is the phenomenally talented photographer that sent us all theses lovely images)
My dress was a Martina Liana dress with crystal beaded straps, beaded sweetheart neckline and detachable beaded belt. I wore midnight blue Menbur shoes. I had my seamstress sew in a lovely piece of lace from my mom’s dress at the bottom of my dress. My bridesmaids wore Dessy dresses with empire waists and bubble hems. They were complimented with peep toe yellow pumps.
The reception was at McCrady’s Restaurant with the floral designs from Frampton Flowers. Our cocktail hour was hosted in The Gallery on the second floor of McCrady’s Restaurant. We dined with our guests in the regal and stately Long Room across the hall. We wanted these two rooms to feel completely different. The Gallery was filled with white lounge furniture, silver table linens, blue and amber up lights and crystal gems that hung from the chandeliers to convey an urban chic style. At dinner, the decor changed to reflect an understated elegance and compliment the already well appointed space. Table centerpieces alternated between hurricanes encircled with roses and hydrangeas and vases filled with lemons and branches. Garland adorned the fireplace mantles and Bride and Groom chairs. The primary colors were yellow and gray, with subtle touches of blue. Yellow reminds me of spring, it was a perfect fit to incorporate the color into our April wedding. I loved the pop of yellow against the gray wedding programs, table cards, men’s suits and the bridesmaid’s blue dresses. We incorporated yellow and white striped ribbon into the boutonnieres and centerpieces.
We designed stylish cocktail stirrers donning phases such as “Happily Ever After” and “Hubby and Wifey” for our guests. My husband’s mother created a “NB” logo that was placed on the cupcake take away boxes and the cupcake menu. In addition, guest place cards were tied to branches in a large vase that guests could pick up the during cocktail hour.
The “nuclear” shoes!
And the oh so delicious cupcakes were from Baked.
