18 May Katrina & Joe | Runnymede Plantation
Sometimes the sweetest elements of a Big Day aren’t front and center. Take Katrina, whose beloved grandmother passed away a few months before her wedding to Joe. The bride’s mother knew her heart was broken and so affixed a locket with Grandma’s photo in it on her bouquet and had a photo of Katrina and her grandmother sewn into her bridal handbag, too. “And,” says Katrina, “she had the words ‘Grandma loves you’ stitched into the lining of my dress—something she always used to say to me, even as her Alzheimer’s really progressed.” If that weren’t comforting enough, the couple, who live in New York, say that Grandma was most certainly viscerally with them the day they traded vows at Runnymede Plantation just outside of town. “At one point in the ceremony,” explains Katrina, “the clouds parted and a gust of wind blew my veil around Joe and I. We think that was her, too.” Get a look at that billowing veil, plus so many more beautiful moments from this oh-so-special special day caught artfully by Jenna Marie Weddings.
