02 Mar Brittany & Ryan {William Aiken House}
When Brittany and Ryan began planning their Charleston wedding at the William Aiken House, they knew they wanted the hues of the day to honor their alma mater (and place where they fell in love), East Carolina University. Go Pirates! So given a palette of royal purple and “old gold,” Katie Poole of The Burlap Elephant took the existing beauty of the historic estate and gardens and seamlessly complemented it with gold chiavari chairs, garlands of greenery, and pops of color via cocktail napkins, throw pillows, and damask-patterned place cards. Brittany’s bridesmaids repped some serious ECU spirit in their purple frocks with golden yellow bouquets from Tiger Lily Weddings. Once the couple completed their vows under the pergola, guests headed inside for a delicious dinner prepared by Fish Restaurant. Afterward, the party moved back outside to the courtyard where bistro lights and lanterns hung above the dance floor and lounge area, while the reception quickly turned into a full-on dance party. When the night came to a close, the Mr. and Mrs. ran through a sea of sparklers, hopped on a flower-adorned rickshaw, and rode off into the Charleston night. A perfect ending to a perfect purple day!
