05 Jan Claire & Jon {Hibernian Hall}
Since most of us are starting 2015 (workwise, at least), today, we wanted to give everyone a big old wowser of a wedding gift compliments of Claire and Jon’s Big Day. There is so much–really!–to love about the whole shebang, starting with the couple themselves. The Charleston residents met at Leaf when Claire did her self-described awkward best to introduce herself to a clueless Jon by sidling up and asking if the seat next to him (in a sea of empty bar stools) was taken. Jon’s pal gave him the “she’s interested” nudge and helped the two into their first conversation. Seven months of dating later, and Jon, a history professor at the CofC, took Claire and their dog, Agnes, to meet friends at the Avery Institute on Bull Street. “Once we had reached the front of the building,” says Claire, “Jon began saying the most amazing things and all of a sudden his head started sinking lower and lower until finally I realized he was down on one knee. He made sure to include Agnes in the proposal and we both very eagerly accepted.” From there, Claire, who works at BenefitFocus, teamed up with her mother to fashion a reception and wedding that anyone smitten/obsessed with BHLDN or Anthropologie or effortless, boho style will flip over. Check out the details that Paige Winn (who met Claire in Anthropologie, no less, when she admired the bride-to-be’s engagement ring) snapped, from at-home prepping to the ceremony at the stunning Unitarian Church downtown to the reception at the grand Hibernian Hall. Add a voluminous Vera Wang gown from Maddison Row, epic blooms from Tiger Lily Weddings, and handpicked details galore and, well, lordamercy, it all adds up to one big beauty of a day.
