07 Jun Ashley and Douglas {William Aiken House}
Be still my wedding loving and obsessed heart. I could barely tear myself away from these images to post them for you. But they are sooooo good, scratch that…soooo amazing, so over the moon wedtacular that I just had to share them. In fact, we dropped everything to bring them to you today. This is a wedding that demands that you sit down, pay attention…and take a few notes. A wedding that is a compilation of industry titans coming together to create an event that is the thing that wedding dreams are made of. And at the tippy top of our love list love, beyond the fabulous images by A Bryan Photo, is the masterfully planned and perfectly implemented event by Calder Clark Designs at the William Aiken House.
Calder Clark Designsis known for exquisite planning and details that escalate weddings into works of art. The CCD team graciously shared some of their favorite design elements for this New Years fête.
{Dinner Menu}
A New Year’s Eve Supper
· Insalata Aurora micro-greens with tomatoes, mais, artichokes, Fontal, green olives, champignons mushrooms, and Parmesan
· Local Seared Grouper with herbes fines Parmesan risotto, garlic but- tered broccolini, and Firefly vodka cream sauce
· Wedding Cake Fresh carrot cake with golden raisins, finely- chopped candied ginger, and toasted walnuts, filled with white chocolate cream cheese icing and decorated with a swiss meringue butter cream
{Ombre Aesthetic}
Calder Clark Designswas inspired by images collected over time of hand-dyed ombre fabrics, as well as the way Nature itself provides an abundance of shaded, gradated loveliness. CCD selected shades of mushroom, mauve, and buttery salmon as three complementary tones to use throughout the wedding, from the paper suite to the cake. CCD tapped Blossoms to create custom copper panels for painted wood bars. CCD had calligrapher Elizabeth Jones pen square copper escort cards which were then affixed to a celadon silk- upholstered copper frame made by Blossoms.
{Escort Card Hutch}
Calder Clark sourced an antique chippy green hutch in Tennessee while on location for a destination wedding, and promptly bought it with Ashley and Doug in mind. She asked that it be softly spotlit by TEC and had Blossomsto fill it with ombre shaded paved carnation flats. CCD had calligrapher Elizabeth Jones pen ivory tented escort cards in the wedding’s mauve and dotted those on the floral flats for impact.
{Rosette Cake}
CCD asked Jim Smealto gradate soft tiers of butter cream in our triplicate of soft colors and to let it cascade down the cake along with over sized handmade rosettes.
{Vintage Noisemakers Departure}
Calder Clark Designs spent half of 2010 collecting vintage noisemakers from antique malls across the country, scouring them for the particular 1940’s/1950’s metal kind in yellow, green, red, pink, blue and in an array of patterns. CCD displayed them among the same paved florals in the hutch so that guests could pluck them for use in seeing the couple off on their honeymoon. CCD sourced two New Year’s Eve gold ones from the early 1940’s for the couple to use as they ran down their aisle as they left the venue.
