Elizabeth “Lizzy” Ayd and Michael Pallotta both grew up in the northeast and met on Nantucket. But the College of Charleston alums could think of no better place to tie the knot than the Holy City. For a venue, the couple set their sights on Runnymede, whose lush Lowcountry landscape, with its live oaks and sweeping Spanish moss, set the perfect stage for planner Tara Guérard to create magic.
A woven runner led the bride and groom down the aisle to their riverfront “I do’s.”
Lizzy’s lily of the valley bridal bouquet perfectly suited the timeless evening. White rose and peony bouquets popped against black silk bridesmaid dresses. A “lemonayd” stand served Fizzy Lizzy and Match M’ayd Mule custom cocktails.
The Soirée team brought Lizzy and Michael’s vision of a lush, ethereal event to life in grand greenery installations and subtle pops of mauve that matched the natural surroundings. For dinner, the couple eschewed over-the-top floral displays in favor of an eclectic mix of pale blooms, carved votives, textured lampshades, and petite potted herbs that ran the length of their tables.
The Italian millefoglie wedding cake is a celebratory tradition in Michael’s family. Instead of cutting the cake together, the couple showered it in powdered sugar before serving.
Lizzy recalls the magic of it all: being surrounded by the most important people in their lives, brought together for one joyous night. “You probably won’t have them all in same place again,” she says. “Remember to take a step back and appreciate all of it!”
