Tracey Turpen

Remembering Tracy Turpen

by Della on January 19, 2012

For the first time ever, we are having a bad day on TWR. With deep sadness we have learned that one of our favorite photographers, Tracy Turpen, passed away in Asheville. Her body of work, a phenomenal collection of iconic images that are rife with emotion. It has been a pleasure to feature a number of her weddings. More over, it was a true honor to have known her. Tracy found beauty everywhere. One of her many gifts was her brilliant work as a photographer and sharing that beauty with the world. She will be undoubtably and irreplaceably missed.

Such a tragedy. I’d seen her work here and on other sites (as well as on her own, accompanied by french tunes), and I can imagine she was as vibrant in person as her breathtaking images convey. My heart aches for her son, fiance and family.

Although I didn’t know Tracy, I am so sad to hear that she is gone. Yet, her images still make me smile.

I’m stunned and so sad – I loved Tracy’s work, and followed her story. My heart is breaking for her little boy tonight…

I miss her dearly. I was her intern for 2010 and she taught me a lot more than how to take a photo. The photography world has lost a gem.
