Murphy-Katherine & Mark | Legare Waring House

Murphy-Katherine & Mark | Legare Waring House

During a meet up with mutual friends at a taco joint, Mark and Murphy-Katherine ended up staying closing down the restaurant. Two years of dating later, Mark flew to Columbus, Ohio (Murphy-Katherine’s hometown), for her father’s blessing for the proposal. Blessing granted, he started the ring hunt. Forty-eight hours after the ring was ready, Mark got his gal to dress up and took her for a stroll in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. At one point, they took a selfie break. “Mark said it would be a great background with the city reflected in the pond,” says Murphy-Katherine, explaining this was so normal for them that she was still clueless. “He then said some nice words I don’t remember–I was lost in the moment–and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.” After her “Yes!”, the photographer Mark hired to capture it all appeared with champagne. From there, they headed out to eat where their families had come from near and far to celebrate. Since Murphy-Katherine had always dreamed of an outdoor and warm wedding, the two ventured down to the Lowcountry where they tied the knot at the Legare Waring House. Thanks to Ooh! Events and Out of the Garden, the space was filled with décor and florals in shades of white, grey, navy, and light pink, and the MOB’s “awesome” monogrammed cornhole boards. And while their day was as gorgeous as could be, we love how Murphy-Katherine recounts the funny asides. Case in point: “I walked down the aisle and saw Mark tear up, which had me trying to hold it all in. So as for our minister told everyone to bow their heads and join in prayer, I led to snag Mark’s attention to get his pocket square to wipe my nose so I wouldn’t have the sniffles the whole time. He had a microphone on so even though we pulled off the exchange, I laughed so hard seeing and hearing it in our full wedding ceremony video later. Thank you, Lord, for pocket squares.” Don’t you just love these two? Enjoy scrolling through the imagery from Dana Cubbage below.
