Brianna & Anthony | The William Aiken House

After years of skating and surfing outings with the same group of friends, Brianna and Anthony’s friendship went to the next level and they became an item. Four and a half years into their courtship, it was Christmas day, and they were celebrating at Anthony’s parent’s house, when he proposed.

“Anthony’s mom said she had made an ornament for all of the girls, which I took to mean me and each of the three sisters and that we should find them on the tree,” says Brianna. “They were clearly marked with her daughter’s names so when everyone else found theirs, I didn’t, and it got very awkward. I thought she maybe had meant there were ones just for her own daughters. Then Anthony jumped up and offered to help me find mine. He picked a silver ball off the tree and said, ‘I think this is it.’ It looked nothing like his sisters and I started to realize what was happening.”

The duo chose to tie the knot in Charleston because it would make a great weekend getaway for them and their guests. “We wanted a wedding that would consist of a weekend spent with our guests instead of just a few hours,” Brianna says. While they easily agreed with holding the festivities at the William Aiken House, once they started planning, Brianna and Anthony realized they had two completely different styles in mind: she wanted Bohemian and he wanted classic and traditional. Thankfully, Candice Lorraine at Ooh! Events was able to marry their visions and create what they called a “Bohemian Black Tie” themed affair. Persian rugs, greenery, market lights, tassels, tuxedos, cigars–oh boy! Get your Pinterest boards ready for this one, brides, as you’ll want to Pin plenty of the photos Virgil Bunao took.
