Annalisa & James {William Aiken House}

Annalisa & James {William Aiken House}

I met Marni Rothschild and was instantly impressed. Her calm and graceful demeanor were evident as she welcomed me into her home. Brides flock to her because her work is stunning and her passion for great photographs.  Thank you Marni for the photographs and the great story.

Annalisa and James had this amazing energy, and an even better courtship. They went out on three dates 16 years ago, and on the third date James walked Annalisa back to her place and asked if he could come up for a cup of coffee. Annalisa replied that her roommate probably would not care to have a guest so James, having just moved to New York from North Carolina, figured he was politely being blown off. As it turned out, Annalisa did have a roommate that really would not have liked that. But in spite of thinking she was the most beautiful woman he had ever met, James never called her again.

Charleston Wedding vendorFast forward to 2007, James is walking his dog past her West Village apartment building that she still lives in (rent control…she could never move) and she’s sitting out on the front step. She claims to have noticed his cute dog but he thinks she really noticed him…either way the rest is history. They were married in Charleston because on a trip to North Carolina to visit with James’ family Annalisa had to divert to Charleston due to some bad weather and she fell in love with the city. It was her first trip and she was only here for 24 hours but before she left she was already looking at property.

The William Aiken House was the perfect backdrop for their elegant and colorful event. Annalisa wore a custom design by Angelo Lambrou, and I promise these are her words, not mine…she was an “old bride and she was going to have fun.” The bright flowers were gorgeous next to her red carpet ready chocolate and flax hued gown. James’ suit and tie were tailored by Laura Calamita, event design was Stacey Fraunfelter of Red Letter Events.
